Hi everyone!
I am so excited to be part of the
Back to School Blog Hop !!
The first days of August always get me thinking about all the new possibilities that a new school year brings. Decorating my classroom, organizing my supplies and planning awesome activities for my new class fill my August days.
One thing that always makes the new year run smoothly is to always be prepared. In our school district, like in most, we have a Meet the Teacher event right before school starts. This is a great time for parents and students to meet me and take a look at their new classroom.
Many of them bring supplies....which I love!!
But, at the end of the event, there are little piles everywhere!! Tissues, crayons, erasers.....
So last year I created a system. I used labels on large plastic tubs that fit in my closet. The students were able to sort their supplies with their parents and help their new teacher out bu leaving me a beautifully organized classroom!!
These are the labels that I use on each of the containers:
This also allows me a little more time on the first day of school!
That first morning busy, busy, busy and having activities ready for the students if always a great idea! I choose activities that I know that my students can complete independently so that I can make sure to get important information, like transportation, taken care of before parents leave for the day.
I use the following direction cards to help students work on their own. My kiddos are second graders but I love to use picture cards to give directions. This way all students, no matter language or reading abilities, are able to participate and feel successful right from the beginning!
Here is wishing you the best school year ever!!

Great organizational tip! I like to do the same or I will literally disappear under all the school supplies that come in.

Thank you for the labels! I love them! My students keep some of their supplies in their desk so I plan to make a list on the white board with the title; "Place in your desk..." then hang up the pictures you shared! I could not get the direction picture cards to download. Could you send them to me? Thank you, again!
